I would like to know if anyone has any literature on the best form of contract management/performance management model for an Alliance contract - from the perspective of the client? In a more traditional contract form the client will appoint a contract manager to ensure that a contract management framework is implemented, that will enhance the prospect of the ckients objectives being met - and drive performance of the contractor. This will enhance the prospect of both contracting parties maintaining compliance with the contract terms and conditions.

I believe that recently a few of the companies providing Legal Services in this space worked in conjunction with the Alliancing Association (AAA) to create a template for best practice contracting in Alliance Contracting. Perhaps you could try contacting John Gallagher at DLA Phillips Fox as I believe he was part of that team. Possibly a good starting point.

There are a number of models. What constitutes "literature" is a different matter - there are plenty of OPINIONS out and around; reported though various fora such as IQPC conferences, and some research papers. Whether any genuinely constitute comparative research on admsitrative models is another matter. I suggest the best approach is benchmarking through direct approaches to Alliances of simialr scope and complexity to the one you are considering. Happy to provide references should you be interested. John Davis, SPAN
